Project Background

The USAID/Egypt Mission is conducting a mid-term performance evaluation of its Safe Cities Free from Violence against Women and Girls Activity. The evaluation will examine the effectiveness of interventions under Safe Cities, which include: policy and legal framework reform efforts; services for victims; and community awareness-raising. The mid-term evaluation will only target the modification post September 2015.

The primary audience of the evaluation report will be USAID/Egypt, specifically USAID senior Mission management, the Office of Democracy and Governance (ODG), and the Program Office. Secondary audiences include the Government of Egypt’s National Council for Women, the Ministry of Social Solidarity, CARE Egypt and the United Nation Entity for Gender Empowerment, i.e. the activity’s implementing partner: UN Women. The mid-term evaluation will examine the activity implementation and recommend changes to improve the activity if needed, as well as to inform USAID Egypt about lessons learned from the current activity and recommend focus areas in terms of future programing, in particular inform the Civil Society and Human Rights Activity Appraisal Document (PAD) development process.
