The Secretariat of the WTO is seeking to fill a position of the Logistics Officer in the Logistics Unit, Administration and General Services Division, to assist in technical cooperation and capacity building work pursuant to the Doha Development Agenda. The WTO is an Equal Opportunities Employer.

TITLE AND GRADE: Logistics Officer – Grade 7 STARTING SALARY: Approximately Swiss francs 92,197 net p.a. OTHER CONDITIONS: In accordance with WTO Staff Regulations and Staff Rules and WTO Pension Plan Regulations. A package of expatriate benefits is available to staff recruited internationally. TYPE OF APPOINTMENT: Fixed-term contract for one year. The contract may be extended subject to the fully satisfactory performance of the incumbent and the continuing availability of funds

GENERAL FUNCTIONS: Under the general supervision of the Head of Unit, the incumbent will be responsible for providing administrative, financial and logistical support to the Secretariat’s programme of technical assistance and capacity building work pursuant to the Doha Development Agenda.

In particular, the incumbent will be responsible for the following duties: (a) assisting the Head of Unit in the management of the Unit and replacing him as required; (b) preparing budget estimate tables; making contacts with hotels and conference centers to arrange technical assistance activity venues; preparing contracts with external agencies/companies on regional activities and ensuring the appropriate administrative, financial and logistical followup; (c) coordinating and following up on the management of activities at selected venues with the Unit staff; advising on WTO administrative procedures, air tickets, reimbursements and invoice payments; (d) providing advice and information on technical cooperation regional activities as well as on administrative, financial and logistical matters to Member and Observer Country officials designated to attend WTO activities; (e) attending WTO internal meetings with staff responsible for technical assistance activities; assisting in the preparation, submission and follow-up of regional assistance request forms, as well as providing information on work in progress; (f) participating in the handling of all administrative, financial and logistical arrangements; submitting mission reports immediately after having taking part in any activity; maintaining technical assistance regional files.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: A university degree in business administration or another related area. Five years’ experience, at the national and/or international level, in administering technical cooperation and capacity building activities in developing, least-developed countries and economies in transition. Proven experience in using databases and Microsoft Office software is also required.

LANGUAGES: Candidates must have excellent oral and written skills in English and Spanish as well as a good knowledge of French.
