Management Systems Adviser
Abt Associates (www.abtassociates.com) is recruiting for a Chief of Party for the anticipated USAID-funded project Resiliency in Northern Ghana (RING) based in Tamale, Ghana.
The purpose of the project is to improve livelihoods and nutritional status of vulnerable households in targeted communities in the Northern Region. The contractor will work in partnership with Ghanaian government entities (the Regional Coordinating Council and District Assemblies) to reach the project objectives. Components of the project will focus on:
- Increasing consumption of diverse quality foods, especially among women and children
- Improving behaviors related to nutrition and hygiene of women and young children
- Strengthening local support networks (with a particular focus on Regional Coordinating Councils and District Assembly staff and systems) to address the needs of vulnerable households
We expect that the work will begin in late 2012. The chief of party duties are as follows:
- Provide technical direction and an integrated vision among different components and actors
- Serve as key liaison with USAID and all Ghanaian counterparts.
- Oversee planning and coordination of the work so as to ensure achievement of project targets.
- Ensure proper reporting, financial management, and compliance with USAID regulations.
Education and experience requirements for the COP include:
- Master’s degree in appropriate discipline, such as management, organizational development, livelihoods, agriculture, health, or nutrition
- At least 10 years’ experience managing complex technical assistance projects.
- Evidence of significant coordination skills, capacity building skills, broad general and technical knowledge, and an ability to cope with multiple interests and challenges.
- Experience in a senior management position with a USAID-funded project
- At least 2 years’ senior-level experience on projects addressing gender-related constraints.
- Experience in Northern Ghana or similar environment
