Position Overview

The Sustainable Operations team ensures the Foundation’s workplaces are safe, efficient, and aligned with its sustainability goals. Through strategic oversight of facilities, workplace administration, logistics, and vendor management, the team integrates environmentally conscious practices into daily operations. It leads efforts in net-zero and sustainability strategy, implementation, and performance tracking, while fostering innovation and cross-functional collaboration. By managing infrastructure, space planning, and internal services across locations, the team supports a high-quality, inclusive, and future-ready work environment.

The Manager of Sustainable Operations drives strategic initiatives across workplace services, overseeing logistics, budgeting, and vendor coordination while embedding sustainability, innovation, and operational efficiency into daily practices and long-term planning.

Pay Range: $124,600- $140,000. This represents the present low and high ends of the Foundation’s pay range for this position. Actual pay will vary based on various factors, including but not limited to experience.

Work Schedule: This role is based in New York, NY, and required to be in the office on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Budget planning: Manages financial planning and monitoring for the Sustainable Operations department in close collaboration with the VP, including budget tracking and financial analysis, and the improvement of the budgeting process. Ensures alignment with sustainable operations goals and provides insights to guide resource allocation.
  • Strategy and project management: Manages special projects that span the Sustainable Operations team. Drives execution of strategic priorities for the team and supports team-wide strategic planning efforts.
  • Sustainability stakeholder engagement: Manages logistics for an external sector-wide community of practice. In collaboration with the Sustainability Manager, coordinates internal experts to provide input on sustainability innovations, ensuring engagement across teams. Manages internal communications strategy and employee engagement for the department.
  • Operational efficiency: Works with the VP and team to improve internal processes across the Foundation related to Sustainable Operations to ensure the timely delivery of key initiatives. Tracks progress, identifies opportunities for improvement, and integrates technological innovation. Helps build team capacity and fosters a culture of innovation and accountability.
  • Data and communications: Monitors, reviews, and coordinates department-wide data collection processes. Creates compelling presentations and communications materials to support internal and external reporting. Ensures clarity, consistency, and strategic alignment with team priorities.
  • Other duties and projects, as assigned.

Education, Experience, and Skills

  • A wide-ranging understanding of workplace operations and strong financial acumen.
  • Solid experience developing strategy and communications plans.
  • Experience with sustainability.
  • Generally expected to have at least 7 years of relevant experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree.
