lobal and specific Objectives
The objective of the mission is to assist GuySuCo with optimizing the operations of the factories. Three specific objectives/ tasks are envisaged at different factories, namely;
The assignment will be carried out in three field missions.
Requested services, including suggested methodology
I) Installation of Punt Dumper in Enmore
Objective:
To identify the most suitable site for erection at Enmore of the punt dumper, bearing in mind additional factory maintenance and operation costs, ease and versatility of operation and the most suitable canal layout at the proposed up-rated throughput of 180 TCH.
Activities/Tasks:
1) The design of additional carriers, feeder tables and associated equipment
2) Utilisation of carriers (punt dumper?) available at Skeldon where applicable
3) Advising on foundation plan and erection procedure.
II) Installation of four-roller first mill in Blairmont
Objective:
To inspect and evaluate the removal of the two-roller crusher unit and replace it with the four-roller first mill from the old Skeldon factory. If feasible to install four-roller first mill during the mid-year maintenance period in 2011, without affecting factory operations.
Activities/Tasks:
1) Identify and specify the mill components to be replaced in converting the mill from 66in. to 78in centres at 130 TCH capacity
2) Prepare a foundation plan for the installation of the turbine, mill and gearing.
3) To liaise with Fletcher Smith in the acquisition of the mill erection drawings
4) Design the Donnelly chute from rubber belt conveyor to 4-roller mill
5) Design a suitable inter-carrier from new mill to existing mills.
III) Factory audit & process evaluation- Albion, Rosehall
Objective:
Evaluation of Albion and Rosehall sugar cane factories with a view to maintaining and improving desired performance parameters.
Specific goals
a) Conduct a full review of all aspects of the factory operations for each site, in terms of the performance of each unit’s operation within the factory, suggesting where improvements can be made. Also identify key risks to each factory’s operations.
b) Review the Overall Recovery at each factory, compare to historical trends and identify problem areas. Suggest and develop solutions to overcome the problems.
The specific areas to be considered are listed below.
1) Cane quality and supply. Confirm that the consistency of supply of cane to the factory is adequate for the achievement of the budgeted throughput and the budgeted grinding hours/week. Also confirm that the quantity of trash and mud/sand in cane are at acceptably low levels.
2) Cane preparation. Determine whether or not the cane preparation devices are of the required levels of capacity and efficiency.
3) Milling plant. Examine the performance of the mills in terms of capacity, reliability and juice extraction capability.
4) Boilers. Confirm that the boilers are capable of supplying adequate steam of the desired quality to the prime movers and process house. Also that the operation, controls and maintenance of the boilers and accessories meet acceptably recognized standards.
5) Powerhouse. Determine whether or not the steam and diesel alternators are suitable in capacity and reliability to meet the needs of the factory.
6) Clarification. Examine all equipment for the clarification of juice to confirm that capacity, controls and operation are adequate and performance consistent with requirements.
7) Filtration. Examine the capacity, operation and efficiency of the station.
8) Evaporation. Confirm that capacity is adequate for juice throughput. Review operational procedures, juice control facilities and maintenance of vessels and accessories.
9) Crystallisation. Evaluate system capacity and controls and confirm that the operational programs and procedures are suitable for desired results.
10) Centrifugals. Evaluate the equipment of both stations in terms of capacity and reliability and quality of output.
11) Laboratory. Evaluate whether or not equipment and procedures are adequate for the range of analyses required.
Note: All recommendations for improvements and upgrades need to incorporate solutions with low capital investment requirements if possible.
The key deliverables of the missions are as follows.
A draft and final report for each mission with reporting on the different activities stated above.
