GH-TAMS is seeking candidates for a Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Consultant for a six-month assignment. The consultancy will be virtual with three two-week international trips (Locations TBD: one in Southern Africa, one in East Africa and one in Southeast Asia) at approximately 145 days of effort. Start date is approximately April-May 2023.
Background:
The connection between poor mental health and HIV risk, testing, and uptake of care and treatment services has been well documented in studies in multiple global regions. OHA and PEPFAR supported programs have a history of incorporating mental health and psychosocial support into HIV programming, but this has been piecemeal without a clear strategy, and not clearly addressing common mental conditions that are associated with poor HIV outcomes and HIV risk including among priority populations.
Role and Responsibilities:
Develop guidelines, language and tools that support the integration of MHPSS into HIV programming; and assist mission staff to implement these guidelines through training and technical assistance.
Develop guidelines on MHPSS integration into HIV programming, provide technical assistance and training on implementation of these guidelines to mission staff, both remote and on-site. Assist mission staff with programming within existing mechanisms and programs. Creation of tools including those to measure/monitor MHPSS programming.
Qualifications:
● Experience implementing MHPSS programming in LIC.
● Masters and/or professional degree (MD, DO, BSN, MPH)
● Experience working with adult, pediatric and maternal HIV/AIDS, family planning, PMTCT programs and/or community programs (including OVC, DREAMS, KP)
● Demonstrated qualitative and quantitative research skills and experience with program M&E
● Demonstrated curriculum development and facilitation in diverse settings
● Experience working in global health preferably HIV/AIDS
● Experience working with USAID missions.
International Business & Technical Consultants, Inc. (IBTCI), is the prime contractor implementing the $125 million USAID-funded Global Health Technical Assistance and Mission Support Project (GH-TAMS) activity. Along with its subcontractor, Dexis Consulting Group (Dexis), IBTCI provides the Bureau for Global Health (GH) and USAID field missions with high quality technical expertise to achieve the Agency's foreign assistance global health mission (October 2019-October 2024). GH-TAMS technical assistance supports over 65 Missions and 19 GH Offices and other Bureaus covering a broad range of technical areas and cross-cutting issues such as HIV/AIDS, family planning, MNCH, infectious disease, TB, health finance, reproductive health, organizational development, OVC, project design, facilitation, M&E and strategic planning.
Project assignments are located in Washington D.C. and worldwide in Africa, Asia and elsewhere. Assignments typically range from two weeks to six months in duration.
