We tackle fundamental social and economic development problems caused by inefficient markets, ineffective governance, and instability. DAI works on the frontlines of global development. Transforming ideas into action—action into impact. We are committed to shaping a more livable world.

DAI and its employees are committed to confronting racism and holding ourselves accountable for positive change within the company and in the communities, cultures, and countries in which we live and work. DAI is committed to attracting and retaining the best employees from all races and backgrounds in our continued effort to become a better development partner.

DAI upholds the highest ethical standards. We are committed to the prevention of sexual exploitation, abuse, and harassment as well as other ethical breaches. All of our positions are therefore subject to stringent vetting and reference checks.

Background:

DAI’s USG business unit is hiring a cohort of mid-level professionals with experience in international development for positions in project management, business development, and technical sectors (Development Innovations). While candidates will be hired into a specific project management, new business, or sector role, the ability to work cross-functionally as needed will be an important consideration.

Following an orientation period, mid-level professionals will join their assigned Project Management, Technical Sector, or New Business teams. Project Managers will work primarily on providing support to DAI projects, New Business Specialists on business development, and Global Practice Specialists on project design and management, although all three are expected to work across functional areas, as needed.

Interviews for all Mid-Level Professional Cohort positions will be conducted in January 2021 with an anticipated February 15 start date.

Function of the Project Management Position:

Project Managers are assigned to a specific geographic region – Africa, Asia, Middle East and North Africa, Global (encompassing Latin American and Eastern Europe) or DAI’s Center for Stable and Secure States – and primarily provide support to projects, including technical, financial, and contractual oversight. They assist project teams in achieving their programmatic and financial targets. They also participate in new business prepositioning and in proposal activities.

Roles and Responsibilities:

A PM has responsibility for two or more projects and serves as the focal point for a project’s home office resources and guidance, especially for compliance and key decisions. The PM maintains a collaborative relationship between home office and field-based teams, ensuring that technical deliverables are of high quality and completed on time and that financial targets are met, escalating issues to appropriate decision-makers, and keeping supervisors informed of key management or technical issues. The PM manages subcontractor, client, and strategic partner relationships and performs short-term management and/or technical assignments, including serving as acting project leadership. The PM ensures and sometimes provides DAI orientation training for project leadership and supervises, trains, and mentors junior home office employees in accordance with DAI’s learning plans, including conducting performance reviews and setting goals for junior home office staff. As a member of the “One DAI” team, the PM encourages learning, knowledge-sharing, and collaboration across the region, the USG business unit, and DAI Global.

In addition to ensuring technical and financial project excellence, the PM also participates in new business opportunities, including assisting with pre-positioning, serving as a proposal pricer, manager, or reviewer, and,as required, developing and managing Country Profiles in the DAI CRM.
