Job Description

Project: Support for European Development Policy and Team Europe
The EU’s new Global Gateway aims to create smart, sustainable, and secure links with countries around the world in different thematic areas. The initiative is delivered through a Team Europe approach, which brings together the EU and its member states with their financial and development institutions, including the European Investment Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.

Our project supports the European Commission’s headquarters, EU delegations, and partner countries to deliver the Global Gateway strategy. The project also supports EU efforts to achieve more effective development cooperation and support EU engagement within the Global Partnership for Effective Development Co-operation.

DAI is looking for Mid-Senior Non-Key Expert in finances/economics for Global Gateway initiatives (GGIA) in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Job Objective: To provide daily support to INTPA in implementing Global Gateway initiatives (GGIA) in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Activities to be undertaken:

  • Promote coordination and exchange of information among projects, programmes or other initiatives that contribute to the objectives of the GGIA in the target countries, notably with Member States, their relevant implementing agencies, financing institutions and export credit agencies, EIB and other relevant European actors including the private sector.
  • Prepare, coordinate and support meetings (both at operational and political levels) between the relevant stakeholders for the development of the GGIA, e.g. EU Delegation, national and local government authorities, Member States Embassies, relevant offices of MS implementing agencies, financing institutions and Export Credit agencies, the EIB and International Financial Institutions, European private sector and European Chambers of Commerce etc (including minutes, propose and prepare agenda in consultation with members etc).
  • Prepare, coordinate and support meetings and events with LAC counterparts (for e.g. international organisations, civil society, private sector).

  • Prepare, coordinate and support meetings (both at operational and political levels) between the relevant stakeholders for the development of the GGIA, e.g. EU Delegation, national and local government authorities, Member States Embassies, relevant offices of MS implementing agencies, financing institutions and Export Credit agencies, the EIB and International Financial Institutions, European private sector and European Chambers of Commerce etc (including minutes, propose and prepare agenda in consultation with members etc).
  • Prepare, coordinate and support meetings and events with LAC counterparts (for e.g. international organisations, civil society, private sector).
  • Identify, review and monitor the financial contributions to relevant GGIA projects and support their coherence and strategic relevance by tracking the indicators, results and objectives of the intervention.
  • Support the preparation and implementation of the GGIA outreach plan, including: mapping of relevant counterparts, preparation of joint messages with EU MS, support dissemination of these messages in close cooperation with the concerned Delegation, Member States, EIB, INTPA 02, INTPA B and EEAS.
  • Preparation of reports and summaries on Team Europe’s progress in implementing the GGIA including specific showcasing of results as needed.
  • Follow relevant policy developments on the topics related to the GGIA in the LAC region and the EU and share this information to relevant Team Europe actors.

Requirements:

Qualifications and skills:

  • University degree in Economics/Finances or other relevant field;
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills;
  • Fluency in working language of EUD and min. C1 in English.

General professional experience

  • Over 3 years professional experience in international relations/development;
  • Experience in the European Commission is an advantage;
  • Knowledge of the functioning of the local public administration and ability to interact with it.

Specific professional experience

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience on project management and international development;
  • Experience in private/public partnerships (advantage);
  • Experience in climate finances (advantage);
  • Experience in development, management and coordination of the GGIA initiatives in LAC;
  • Experience in the European Union is an advantage.
