Job Description

The Strategic Communications team is the communications unit of the uropean Climate Foundation. Its role is to act as a centre of expertise for communication on climate change and to play an active role in helping create more political, media and public endorsement for ambitious action to address the climate emergency at an international, national and sectoral level.

We are currently seeking a Monitoring & Evaluation Manager in the Strategic Communications Team, reporting to the Operations Director. This exciting position will lead the development and roll out of a comprehensive Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) framework to support the communications strategy seeking to shift key geographies from fossil fuels to clean energy. There has never been a more important time to be working on climate change. As towns, cities and countries around the world declare climate emergencies, seas rise, forests burn, glaciers melt, increasing numbers of people take to the streets demanding urgent action and our societies begin to wake up to what science has been saying for many years, it is essential that we reach key audiences with relevant information, opportunities to act and emotionally intelligent content.

The Manager will identify meaningful KPIs, and ensure systematic data collection through media monitoring, whilst distilling strategic insights to improve climate and energy communication projects. This is a unique opportunity to work as part of a highly dynamic, international group of individuals who combine their passion to make a difference with ambition and a rigorous and results-oriented approach.

The ideal candidate will have solid experience in strategic communications, paired with significant experience in monitoring, evaluation and learning for international programmes and campaigns, with a focus on media and advocacy-related programmes. You will be able to liaise with communications experts as well as partners and funders in a diverse international setting, distilling and communicating evidence-based insights that can improve strategy. The successful candidate will be a fast-learning self-starter, comfortable working in a dynamic international environment, and will be a natural collaborator who can build M&E capacity across the team. Excellent written and verbal communication in English is essential, other languages are an asset.

The role can be based in one of ECF’s offices in Brussels, The Hague, London, Paris, Berlin with the flexibility for remote working for the right candidate (within a reasonable time zone). The salary is competitive and commensurate with the experience required.
