Job Background/ Summary:
The NGO Security Focal Point Coordinator supports the work of the Southern Sudan NGO Forum which represents over 50 international and Sudanese NGOs operating in Southern Sudan. In this role, the Coordinator will support the work of the NGO forum specifically relating to ensuring the safety and security of staff and operations. This includes improving NGO analysis of the situation, which would include areas not covered by the UN and recommendations for action; sharing indicators of risks and harmonization of procedures where possible (for e.g. evacuation plan/concentration points/communication means); regular provision of updated NGO security focal point information including an emergency ‘security tree’ and mailing list; mapping of NGO locations and supporting joint initiatives on security training for NGO staff which is particularly relevant in remote locations
Specific Responsibilities:
Conduct situational assessment leading to program design and implementation within the water, sanitation, hygiene and shelter/NFI sectors. All responsibilities will entail close collaboration with the other emergency programming staff at the field site, in particular the health section for hygiene promotion and logistics staff in Al Geneina and Khartoum.
Program Quality and Management:

ent the NGO forum at the UN and Partners Area Security Management Team meeting.

all NGOs with relevant security updates on a daily basis. This is a full time role during a security incident

Qualifications
ors degree in international relations, international development or related field;; Master’s degree is preferred

ence working in conflict/post-conflict settings and understanding of South Sudan’s security situation
ence liaising with UN, DPKOs and UN agencies is preferred
computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point)
Physical Requirements/Environment: The position is based full-time in Juba, Southern Sudan with limited amenities; requires travel 60 % of the time
