Alive & Thrive is an initiative to save lives, prevent illness, and ensure healthy growth and development. Good nutrition in the first 1000 days, from conception to two years of age, is critical to enable all children to lead healthier and more productive lives. Alive & Thrive is scaling up improved infant and young child feeding and maternal nutrition through large scale programs in several countries in Asia and Africa and through strategic technical support and the dissemination of innovations, tools, and lessons worldwide. Alive & Thrive is funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates foundation, the governments of Canada and Ireland, and the World Bank.
This is a part-time position (24 hours/week)
Position Summary
The Technical Nutrition Writer works as a critical member of the KLL team, playing a lead role in developing and writing effective communications and knowledge materials that share A&T experience, successes, and learning, through our website, as well as through other mechanisms used at country, regional and global levels. The Technical Nutrition Writer works under the guidance of the Knowledge Leadership and Learning Director, but is anticipated to work primarily independently on a discrete set of tasks with little regular support. As a key international /public health technical and communication resource on the KLL team, which also leads social and behavior change communications (SBCC) capacity building and technical assistance, the Technical Nutrition Writer will also assist with developing tools and materials that support SBCC capacity building, and technical assistance across the countries and regions. The Technical Nutrition Writer will contribute to achieving the KLL team’s overall workplan objectives by bringing a strong foundation of nutrition/public health and communications expertise, insights, and experience in international public health nutrition program implementation, as well as the capacity to effectively communicate on international public health nutrition programs and policies.
