The Department of Employment and Workplace Relations (the Department) invites tenders from suitably qualified and experienced individuals and organisations to be included on the Department’s OHS and Workers’ Compensation Expert Panel (the Panel) to conduct various projects on OHS and workers’ compensation related matters.

The Office of the Australian Safety and Compensation Council (Office of the ASCC) within the Department administers the former National Occupational Health and Safety Commission (NOHSC) panel arrangements, consisting of two panels, the OHS Data Panel and the OHS Expert Research Panel. These panel arrangements expire in 2007 and will be replaced by a single panel, the OHS and Workers’ Compensation Expert Panel.

The panel arrangements are expected to commence in June 2007 and operate for an initial period of 3 years. However the Department reserves the right, exercisable at it’s absolute discretion, to extend the deeds under the panel arrangement for a period, or for periods up to 31 May 2007.

It is the Department’s expectation that the panel will be multidisciplinary in composition and include recognised experts. The services that are required under the panel are:

  • Data analysis including epidemiological and statistical analysis, actuarial services, and analysis of health, social and economic issues that arise in relation to OHS and workers’ compensation
  • Information and data management services related to OHS and workers’ compensation including advice on or development of coding systems, minimum data sets and data dictionaries
  • Research services including systematic reviews and meta-analyses, intervention and evaluation research, surveys, market research and case studies in relation to OHS, workers’ compensation, rehabilitation and return to work, and
  • Services in relation to the development of OHS standards and codes of practice.
