Position Overview

The Officer is an integral temporary member of the Strategic Planning and Implementation team and will support organizational operational effectiveness and strategy execution for the UN Foundation. They will support strategic initiatives, operational processes improvement, new business evaluation, and organization wide strategy.

The Officer, Strategic Planning and Implementation reports to the Managing Director, Strategic Planning and Implementation and works closely with teams across the UN Foundation, including Information Technology, Finance, and People & Culture. This position will be temporary through December 16, 2022.

Essential Functions

  • Support the identification of opportunities to improve UNF’s organizational effectiveness and support initiatives to increase organizational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Work with teams across the organization to map, document, and improve UNF’s core business processes
  • Facilitate implementation of process improvements, new policies and procedures through training, documentation, and change management
  • Provide project management for interdisciplinary teams in support of organizational goals and objectives
  • Conduct data analysis or research in support of the Managing Director or UNF’s Executive Leadership for initiative- and enterprise-level strategic planning and decision-making.
  • As needed, support operationalizing incubating initiatives through grants management, donor compliance, writing proposals and reports, and other start-up activities
  • Maintaining working knowledge of the UNF agreement process (for both contracts and grants), and when to utilize the proper templates accordingly. (As applicable to the role)
  • Drafting and reviewing agreements and maintaining an understanding of all agreement terms and applicable flow-downs, consulting with UNF’s finance/contracts team as needed. (As applicable to the role)
  • Attending training sessions provided by UNF’s contracts team to maintain and keep up to date with UNF’s current policies and procedures. (As applicable to the role)
  • Maintain a strong knowledge of UNF’s Salesforce database to be able to process and track agreements, extract information and prepare reports. (As applicable to the role)
  • Manage lower-level staff, when appropriate
  • Other duties as assigned.

Selection Criteria

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field.
  • 5+ years’ experience, including internships.
  • Experience with Salesforce required; proficiency in Excel preferred; experience budgeting is helpful.
  • Ability to work as a team-player and proactively seek out work.
  • Exceptional copyediting skills and keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to develop, maintain, and enjoy effective working relationships with people from a wide variety of organizations and with a wide variety of functional expertise.
  • Communications skills (listening, speaking, and writing) a must.
  • Continuous learning skills and the ability to synthesize information.
  • Demonstrated discretion with sensitive organizational information and strategic planning.
  • Flexibility and a team player.
  • Self-starter.
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle stress.
  • Ability to meet regular attendance/tardiness policy.
