The OPEC Fund is accepting applications for membership of its Administrative Tribunal. The Tribunal is an independent body that hears matters within its competence as defined by the Statute of the Tribunal, and makes final and binding decisions.
The Tribunal is composed of five members appointed by the OPEC Fund‘s Governing Board, who serve for a period of 5 years (renewable once). It is governed by the Statute and Rules of the Administrative Tribunal approved by the Governing Board, as well as any supplementary documents approved from time to time. The Tribunal is non-resident and its judges are appointed on a retainer basis. It convenes only when there is an appeal to be decided.

Eligibility and Qualifications:
a) be a national of an OPEC Fund Member Country or Host Country, Austria;
b) be a person of high moral character who possess the qualifications required for appointment to high judicial office or an international lawyer or arbitrator in relevant fields, such as international law, international administrative law, employment relations, and/or international organizations law;
c) have advanced degree in law and be licensed in at least one jurisdiction;
d) have a minimum of 15 years post-qualified experience (PQE) with at least 10 years of relevant professional experience in the subject field;
e) not be a current or former OPEC Fund staff, consultant, Director-General, Governing Board member or Alternate, or Ministerial Council member;
f) not be a relative (within fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) of an OPEC Fund employee or member of the governing bodies (Ministerial Council and Governing Board);
g) have recognized professional competence and integrity;
h) be fluent in English language. Advanced proficiency in German, French, Spanish or Arabic is an asset.
Key Competencies
a) Experience serving on the Administrative Tribunal of an International Financial Institution (IFI) or demonstrated familiarity with the administrative law and dispute resolution mechanism of an IFI, particularly matters involving employment contract, terms and conditions of employment and separation, etc.
b) Good critical and analytical skills combined with sound judgment in the resolution of cases.
c) Understanding of the duties and obligations of international civil servants.
d) Judicial temperament and objectivity.
e) Demonstrated integrity.
f) Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
g) Ability to work as a team with members having different origins and cultures.
h) Excellent interpersonal skills combined with understanding of/exposure to international and multicultural environments.
i) Ability to work with information technology communication tools such as video and teleconferencing.
