The Operations Manager will provide leadership, support and oversight to all field operations in World Vision (WV) Country Office (CO) to ensure implementation is efficient and effective and meets the goals and objectives of WV, community partners and donors. The position is a member of the WV CO Senior Management Team and plays a central role in the implementation of country strategy and business planning.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Develop and lead a team of competent national and expatriate Area Managers with high quality professional skills and excellent team leadership skills as they manage they day-to-day operations.
  • Implementation of activities as per design, plan of action and Detailed Implementation Plan (DIP) through putting quality monitoring system in place.
  • Participate in the recruitment, selection and development of operations and technical staff. Support the professional and personal development of these staff through on the job coaching, identification of learning and training needs and opportunities.
  • Contribute to relationship management and income planning, bringing the knowledge of community need to the discussions with donor facing staff.

REQUIRED SKILLS INCLUDE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, public health, economics, rural development, or similar.
  • Relational skills, especially in a cross-cultural environment.
  • Strong planning, organisational and project management skills and ability to prioritise and handle multiple tasks.
  • Ability to work gracefully under pressure.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with national staff and a passion for capacity building, staff and organisational development.
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Office, Lotus Notes or similar database, email and Internet.
  • Experience in programme or project design, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and report writing, required.
  • Programming knowledge of a specific sector (Education, Water & Sanitation, Health, Agriculture and Social Work).
  • 45% travel required for the coordination of a geographically dispersed team.
