Permanent. Full Time. Hybrid working (2 days per week in the office)

Location: London

Salary: £42,722 (Including London allowance) per year

About the role

Reporting in to the Government and Parliamentary Lead, the role of Parliamentary and Influencing Advisor is a key member of the Policy and Influencing team.

The role enables effective coordination, development and delivery of Christian Aid’s engagement and influencing strategies that supports with maximising impact and the post-holder will provide key collaborative support both organisationally and operationally for influencing and engagement outputs, including drafting briefings and setting up meetings (attending where necessary).

Some of the key responsibilities of the role of Parliamentary and Influencing Advisor are:

  • Supports UK influencing unit to build relationships and access to key influencers in government, churches, private sector, INGO sector, Think Tanks, and Civil Society that will maximise impact aligning with organisational values and goals.
  • Develop and deliver both influencing and engagement projects, including CAW parliamentary event, mass lobbies of parliamentary and private sector engagement initiatives, all of which align with organisational values and goals.
  • Collaborate with the global influencing team to ensure coordination of activities and communications with MCC’s, and build relationships based on trust and openness.

About you

Who we are looking for:

Essential:

  • Degree level qualification in a relevant field.
  • Significant experience of working in advocacy, influencing and communication.
  • Significant experience of working in an NGO, public policy, government or the private sector.
  • Detailed understanding of NGO networks and coalitions working in UK advocacy on related issues.
  • Detailed understanding of Westminster, Whitehall and international policy.
  • Detailed understanding of how policy change happens and of how to develop effective influencing strategies.
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly developed experience of building constructive working relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Highly developed project management skills and experience of organising events, and delivering projects collaboratively within agreed budgets and timeframes.
