Job Description
Parliamentary, Ministerial and Central Services was established in 2016 to professionalise, streamline and improve essential services to Parliament and Ministers, including briefing, litigation, correspondence and Freedom of Information requests, to maximise FCDO and Ministerial impact.
These roles offer a strategic overview of the subjects that matter to Ministers and the FCDO. Parliamentary Questions (PQ) Officers draft responses to assigned House of Commons and House of Lords PQs using a variety of existing resources and work closely with colleagues to ensure these are consistently relevant, accurate and of a high standard.
To date, the FCDO is the only Government department with a centralised drafting and clearing system. Unlike other Government departments, we are involved in the wording and communications of policies that are of pressing interest to Parliamentarians.
Person Specification It is essential in your application that you provide evidence and proven examples in each of the following Minimum Criteria, the Behaviours and the Technical question as far as you are able to do so. These responses will be further developed and discussed with those candidates invited for interview. Minimum Criteria · 2 A-Levels at A* - C grade (or equivalent).
· A keen eye for detail to deliver accurately and consistently to tight deadlines.
· A proactive approach with a focus on continuous improvement of self and service, with an appetite to work with others to simplify processes and improve efficiency.
· Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels to collect necessary information for daily deadlines.
· Flexibility and a willingness to support other teams during busy periods / absences.
