THE ROLE

As a key member of Stand’s People and Culture team, you will serve as the primary liaison to affiliate and national team members for new hires and transitions, benefits enrollment, and administration, reporting, invoice reconciliation and ensuring effective record keeping and data analysis. RESPONSIBILITIES:

The People & Culture Specialist is responsible for day-to-day human resource information system (HRIS) and benefits administration along with updating and/or developing standard operating procedures, and providing data driven performance and process improvement recommendations.

Employee Lifecycle Processes

  • Facilitate employee onboarding and separation by leveraging our HRIS and other systems to implement changes, save key documentation while ensuring an effective online experience, including, but not limited to:
  • Coordinate the new hire process including background checks, and onboarding process
  • Ensure completion of the I-9 Form and other requirements
  • Facilitate status, compensation, separation, and other changes
  • Update organizational lists and communicate new hires, transitions, and departures to staff
  • Maintain the accuracy, integrity, and consistency of employee information and develop routine and custom reports as required
  • Support the employee leave administration process by tracking leave dates, and sending standard communications

Benefits Administration

  • Responsible for day-to-day benefit plan administration
  • Prepare the draft 1095 C reports annually
  • Conduct new hire orientation meetings, distribute benefits information, and provide guidance to ensure that all necessary documents are received and processed in a timely manner
  • Respond to staff questions and assist with the resolution of benefits issues
  • Assist with and process qualifying event changes and separations using the HRIS and notifying Payroll
  • Facilitate annual open enrollment process to enroll eligible employees in group health plan, life and disability plan, flexible spending account, health reimbursement arrangement and other benefits
  • Coordinate COBRA and Health Reimbursement Account third party administration
  • Reconcile monthly invoices
  • Maintain comprehensive benefit plan records at all levels

Additional Responsibilities

  • Engage effectively with People & Culture team members
  • Support various People and Culture and Operations projects as assigned
  • Participate in 4 Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion modules each fiscal year

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Passionate commitment to Stand for Children’s mission;
  • 3 years in Human Resources and/or a college degree with HR and/or Benefit Administration focus;
  • Exceptional organizational, analytical and prioritization skills; outstanding attention to detail;
  • Exceptional people engagement and support orientation, and proactive problem-solving skills;
  • High degree of professionalism and proven ability to deal sensitively with confidential material;
  • Ability to gracefully manage multiple tasks and projects effectively and with the established deadline;
  • Ability to be flexible and agile in a fast-paced work environment;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; clear, direct, and respectful communication;
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and strong PC skills, including proficiency with Excel;
  • Strong aptitude and desire to implement and manage organization-wide processes and systems, identifying inefficiencies, recommending and implementing improvements as needed;
  • Ability to travel to the Portland office as needed (typically 1-2 times per year)
  • Ability to lift more than 20 pounds, on occasion.
