For every child, equality

UNICEF is the world’s leading voice for – and with – children. In all we do, we work to engage and empower young people to have a voice in the decisions that affect their lives. We work to save their lives, to protect their rights and to keep them safe from harm. To give them a childhood in which they are protected, healthy, and educated.

In Guyana and Suriname, UNICEF operates under a single Country Programme Document (CPD) with five programme areas. These are:

Survive and Thrive
Education and skills
Child Protection
Climate Resilience and Water, Sanitation and Hygiene
Social Protection and inclusion

The CPD runs from March 2022 - December 2026 and aims at achieving the best possible results for the most deprived children and their families. Working upstream at policy level and downstream at community level, it includes system strengthening (i.e. legal/policy reform and strategic planning), capacity building, evidence-based interventions, service delivery and communication for development.

How can you make a difference?

Under the guidance of the Deputy Representative, and the direct supervision of the Planning Monitoring and Evaluation (PM&E) Specialist, the Intern will provide support and operational assistance to various processes in research, collection, analysis, and presentation of data as well as exposure to field monitoring of specific program interventions, while learning about PME processes to support the implementation of the workplan designed to advance the rights of children.

About the Organization

UNICEF is out to change the world for children vaccination by vaccination, blanket by blanket, biscuit by biscuit, book by book. In most of America, these things are considered completely ordinary. But in many parts of the developing world, they can save a child's life. UNICEF is unique among world organizations and unique among those working with young people. As a global movement, we use our authority to influence decision makers and diverse partners to turn the most innovative ideas into reality. In 155 countries and territories, UNICEF's field staff uses hard-won expertise to meet the challenges facing children and those who care for them. Our history has given us a profound understanding of development and the importance of child health, education, equality and protection in advancing humanity. All that we do helps children realize their full potential. In support of UNICEF's work, the U.S. Fund for UNICEF focuses on five major priorities: education, emergencies, HIV/AIDS, immunization and malnutrition.
