The Pre-Award Manager leads on the implementation and management of an effective and efficient This role ensures effective and efficient stewardship of funding applications for research teams to support the delivery of LSHTM’s mission to improve health worldwide. The postholder is responsible for the review and approval of budget costings and submission of research applications on behalf of LSHTM. This is a busy and varied role in which the postholder will lead a small team in providing an efficient customer-focused pre-award service.
The postholder is accountable for ensuring all funding applications comply with LSHTM and funder policies and procedures, and for the continuous improvement of the service. This includes monitoring service delivery, developing and implementing policy, process, guidance and system changes, and delivering training for service users.
Applicants must have experience of working in a higher education research administration environment, and substantial knowledge of research funder terms and conditions and application processes. They must have demonstrable experience of financial management and working knowledge of research budgeting concepts and methodologies (e.g. FEC, TRAC). The postholder must have strong inter-personal skills and previous experience of leading a team. The successful candidate will be able to prioritise their workload effectively, and that of their team, to meet frequent tight deadlines, to work independently and to demonstrate a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Experience with the Agresso financial system is highly desirable and strong IT skills are essential.
