Program Analyst / Associate Analyst - ECSA/AMENA Regions

Job Description

Job Summary

Abt Associates’ International Development Division seeks a qualified entry-level Program Analysts to support to regional teams (Eastern, Central, and Southern Africa, and Asia, Middle East, and North Africa). This position is based in Rockville, Maryland and will report to a Regional Managing Director. The incumbent is expected to support program management tasks across a number of projects, activities, and new business initiatives as well as provide general administrative and operational assistance to the regional teams.


Key Roles and Responsibilities

  • Support individual development projects in the region as needed, which may include:
    • Supporting desk research and literature review needs for technical deliverables and technical products/reports
    • Contributing to drafts of deliverables and sections of deliverables including work plans, quarterly reports, annual reports, and other technical products/reports; formatting and editing support for all products
    • Under the direction of managers, drafting communications products such as success stories, newsletter articles, web updates, stories and features for USAID and other donors, Abt website and other venues
    • Supporting managers in regular project monitoring and evaluation, including collecting inputs, reviewing data, and coordinating with partners and staff as needed
  • Contribute to new business development, including writing discrete sections of proposals
  • Support administrative and operational needs of the Regions including note-taking and dissemination for team meetings/calls, organizing project documents, serving as regional Timekeeper, and other tasks, as needed
  • Support contracting process, including posting short-term and long-term personnel job descriptions and advertisements; collecting and reviewing documentation and inputs for accuracy and compliance; managing vetting processes when necessary; tracking process from start to finish; and liaising with Finance team and Abt Departments to finalize contracts
  • Other programmatic, operational, and administrative tasks, as needed

Preferred Qualifications

  • BA/BS in Business, International Affairs, or other relevant field plus 1-2 years of relevant professional experience
  • Experience living or working in developing countries preferred
  • Demonstrated computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, multi-tasking, and attention to detail

Minimum Qualifications

  • BA/BS (1 - 2) years experience OR the equivalent combination of education and experience
