Job Description:

Apprio is seeking an experienced Program Analyst to support our fully funded contract with USAID. This mid-level Program Analyst will initially serve as a support role for the New Partnerships Initiative (NPI), a USAID flagship initiative aimed at building on USAID’s relationship with a range of new, underutilized, and traditional partners to increase local engagement and sustainability. as the third official institutional support contractor position for NPI. This position will support the establishing and coordinating of the Agency activities of NPI, a high-visibility agency priority, under the guidance of Center for Faith and Opportunity Initiatives (CFOI) and NPI leadership jointly, shepherding NPI into full functionality throughout the current stand up process for the Development Democracy Innovation (DDI) and its eventual strategic location within Local Faith Transformative Partnerships (LFT) Hub.

The Center for Faith and Opportunity Initiatives (CFOI) works with U.S. officials to engage religious leaders and institutions and to strengthen USAID’s collaboration with faith-based and community organizations. To build on this progress, the United States has developed a national strategy to focus engagement on key policy objectives, promoting best practices, and spurring greater department and agency coordination. The strategy encourages U.S. government officials to develop and deepen their relationships with religious leaders and faith communities as part of a broader effort to reach out to a diverse set of civil society actors.

The New Partnerships Initiative (NPI) will allow USAID to work with a more diverse range of partners, strengthen existing partner relationships, and provide more entry points for organizations to work with the Agency. The goal of the NPI is to increase USAID’s development impact by elevating local leadership, fostering creativity and innovation, and mobilizing resources across the Agency’s programs. Under NPI, USAID will engage new and underutilized partners through a series of solicitations designed to help countries be self-reliant and meet the needs of their people.

The Program Analyst is assigned to the Center for Faith and Opportunity Initiatives-NPI team is seeking a mid-level Program Analyst to support our fully funded contract with USAID. Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with team on messaging, media outreach, and special events with other bureaus and amplify campaigns via digital media channels;
  • Serves as point of contact for content emerging from USAID missions, advises on messaging and content production for videos, bios, and success stories; and helps route content through LPA clearance channels;
  • Drafts talking points, memos, briefers, bios, testimony for the CFOI leadership;
  • Maintains regular contact with Agency bureaus/independent offices to obtain briefing materials, background documents, and other related materials;
  • Reviews principal’s daily calendar to ensure that the day-to-day schedule is well-planned and facilitated in terms of background, briefers, and issues to be covered in daily meetings;
  • Attends meetings with the principal and occasionally on behalf of principal, and coordinates special projects as assigned;
  • Develops agendas for meetings chaired by the principal;
  • Drafts correspondence and contributes to the preparation of speeches, reports, and presentations;
  • Reviews correspondence drafted for the principals signature to ensure clarity and that the principals’ position is clearly reflected;
  • Reviews information and action memo submitted for signature by the Director;
  • Liaises with independent offices and bureaus within the Agency and interagency in the development and maintenance of relationships;

Educational Requirement: Master’s degree in international development preferred or similar and one year of work experience in international development, or a Bachelor’s degree and three years of relevant experience

Required Experience: 4 to 6 years of experience

Requirement Knowledge:

  • Excellent written and verbal skills in English. The ability to read, analyze, and interpret policy documents, reports, and correspondence;
  • Proficiency in the use of Google Applications and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint);
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with competing and shifting priorities;
  • Ability to efficiently multitask and prioritize workload accordingly;
  • Ability to diplomatically liaise with independent offices and bureaus within the Agency and interagency in the development and maintenance of relationships;
  • Familiarity with USAID acquisition and assistance award processes; experience in drafting scopes of work or award applications, or managing USAID awards preferred.
  • Familiarity with the USAID Program Cycle, including strategic planning, project and activity design and implementation, and monitoring and evaluation; experience working within one or more of these areas preferred.
  • Familiarity with USAID monitoring and reporting requirements, including USAID standard indicators and the Performance Plan and Report; experience working on these issues preferred
  • Understanding of basic statistics and analyzing quantitative data
  • Excellent analysis and writing skills
  • Experience working in a developing country with local organizations (non-profit, private sector, or government) preferred

USAID Assumptions and Constraints

  • Support may be required outside of core hours. The contractor will be notified in advance if after-hours support is required.
  • Travel may be required.
