Global Communities is seeking a Program Assistant for its community engagement program in Moline, Illinois. Based in Moline, the Program Assistant works with a five-person team to support a project that focuses on empowering the residents of the Floreciente community to be able to access more resources to improve their quality of life. The Program Assistant provides operational and programmatic support and helps to organize and educate residents and business owners to participate in community and economic development discussions affecting their neighborhood. As part of a small team, the Program Assistant will learn about organizing, community and economic development, and nonprofit program management.

Responsibilities:

Programmatic and Logistics Support:

  • Work with program leads to assist in all aspects of programming including events, meetings, workshops, research, community organizing, working with beneficiaries, outreach, communications, and performance evaluation.
  • Update workforce development materials on a monthly basis.
  • Manage data entry in performance management and contact management database.
  • Sit on review team for grant applications and drafts decisions memos.
  • Assist program leads to organize logistics for meetings, trainings, and events.

Communications and Reporting Support:

  • Draft monthly narrative and indicator reports for submission to headquarters.
  • Strengthen the online presence for the program by posting program materials on the website and generating content for Facebook and other social media platforms.
  • Support director and managers in development and production of program materials such as flyers, brochures, one-pagers, etc.
  • Assist in the drafting of reports to donors.

Administrative Support:

  • Manage program files for the department, including uploading and tagging of documents in department library on SharePoint and filing hard copies of documents.
  • Monitor office supplies and makes procurement requests as necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Excellent communication skills. Fluency in English, written and oral. Proficiency in Spanish, written and oral preferred.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Aility to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Advanced computer skills in a Windows-based environment including Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel. Wllingness to learn new software.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Superior relationship-building skills. Courteous and professional manner. Multicultural sensitivity.
  • Ability to maintain a calm and professional attitude under pressure or constantly shifting priorities.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree and related experience preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience considered.
  • Must have U.S. Work Authorization.
