Long term role based in Port Moresby

Program Overview

The PNG Governance Facility (PGF) is an innovative governance initiative in Papua New Guinea, aimed at contributing to security, stability, basic service delivery and inclusive growth for all Papua New Guineans. The PGF will be responsible for the design and implementation of most of Australia’s future governance portfolio under the strategic direction and oversight of the Australian and PNG Governments. Bringing governance activities under one umbrella, the facility will enable DFAT to achieve greater coherence between, and consolidation of, individual activities, effective gender mainstreaming, smarter administrative, contracting and management processes, and improved knowledge sharing and actions on lessons learned across the governance portfolio.

Role Summary

The Program Coordination Manager will be responsible for providing overarching Program management support and coordination of Program activities and deliverables to the PNG Governance Facility. Role responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Work with the PGF CEO, Executives, Senior Directors and Directors to track deliverables, associated risks, issues and gaps
  • Develop, implement and manage a comprehensive tracking tool to support decision making, resource allocation and keep active records of all Program activities
  • Produce weekly progress reports and report to the PGF CEO update on program progress and implementation issues
  • Support the coordination between the Executives, Senior Directors and Directors in implementing the PGF Programs and deliverables
  • Work across all Program areas to ensure communications information is correct, up to date and necessary individuals are informed
  • Share relevant information from other areas across the Program
  • Coordinate, briefings, reports and secretariat support to the PGF Strategic Management Committee and Executive Management Team and associated meetings
  • Continuously review the scope and nature of the Program including its function within DFAT’s broader governance portfolio, personnel, assets, services, subcontracts and operating systems

The successful candidate will bring:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Project Management, Business Administration, Business Management or a relevant field
  • 5-10 years’ experience coordinating and managing multiple program activities across large and complex cross-function environments
  • Strong written communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and Word skills including strong experience with project management and time management systems including MS Project or similar
  • An understanding of the public diplomacy requirements of the Australian and PNG Governments
  • Experience working in PNG or Pacific Region will be highly regarded
