The Position: Program Coordinator – Democracy, Governance and Human Rights (DGHR)

Under the guidance of the Program Manager, the Program Coordinator will provide technical, financial, and administrative management for DGHR projects in the Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) region and will be responsible for day-to-day administration, communication and outreach, proposal development, and other assigned tasks. The focus of this position will be on democracy, governance, and human rights projects (DGHR) across LAC. In addition, the Program Coordinator will conduct selected research assignments, depending on overall program and new business priorities. The Program Coordinator will be required to perform a range of tasks, including:

  • Support the DGHR team with project management efforts, including project reporting, project launch and close out procedures, maintenance of subcontract relationships, budget preparation and analysis, and administrative support.
  • Assist in ensuring that all program documentation is current and complete, corresponding with field teams and partners as needed.
  • Maintain program tracking documentation and databases.
  • Support projects with correspondence, research, and other tasks as assigned.
  • Liaise with other program, finance and administrative teams within the organization and contribute to the organization’s overall interdepartmental effectiveness and collaboration.
  • Support business development opportunities, including contributing to potential client meetings, and proposal writing on awards related to DGHR.
  • Travel to projects in Latin America and the Caribbean as required (post-COVID).

  • Ability to draft documents in English including drawing from Spanish language documents.

  • Strong analytic skills and ability to respond quickly and efficiently to requests.
  • Ability to efficiently manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • High proficiency with Microsoft Office and other technology.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required in political science, international relations, or relevant field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Understanding of democracy, governance, and human rights in LAC, and working knowledge of hemispheric affairs and 1-3 years of administrative and program experience working for an international or non-profit organization, preferably with direct field experience in LAC.
  • Experience working with key donors, such as USAID, USAID/Food For Peace, USAID/OFDA, IDB and World Bank preferred.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish is required, with strong oral and writing skills in both languages.
  • Clear understanding of and identification with PADF’s mission and program activities.
