Project Overview and Role:
Australia Awards - South Asia & Mongolia (AASAM) is managed by the Australian Government’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) and is administered by Palladium. It is a multi-country program with service delivery offices in Colombo, Dhaka, Islamabad, Kathmandu, Thimphu and Ulaanbaatar.
Australia Awards are provided to build the skills and knowledge of individuals so that they can contribute to their country’s development, and to support the ongoing development of links between Australia and the countries to which it provides development assistance. The Australia Awards are an important part of the Australian Government’s focus on public and economic diplomacy, and provide long term Scholarships, Short Courses and other training opportunities.
The Program Coordinator, Scholar Enrichment is expected to build positive relationships with Australian university contacts in order to develop and implement strategies that complement University-based activities and assist scholars with developing professional linkages. The Program Coordinator will also contribute broadly to the Program Outreach and Engagement functions including through providing communications and event coordination support in Australia.
The Program Coordinator, Scholar Enrichment Program reports to the Deputy Team Leader and works closely on a day-to-day basis with other team members of the Outreach and Engagement team - in particular with the Communications and Alumni Engagement functions. The position works internally to support country teams in Bangladesh, Bhutan, Mongolia, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Pakistan.
The position works with a variety of external stakeholders, including DFAT staff, Program participants, Australian universities internship providers, and media representatives. The role works with service providers, including printers and graphic designers, photographers, function/facility providers, and transport providers among others.
The Program Coordinator is required to travel within Australia several times a year to facilitate events. Some work of standard working hours is required.
