Job Description
The Coordinator for PCI’s Youth Empowerment initiatives coordinates communication and activities in the San Diego community and supports efforts to develop and expand PCI’s youth empowerment and anti-human trafficking initiatives in the region. The Program Coordinator will support quality implementation, evaluation, documentation and administrative/financial aspects of implementing an expanded version of the Girls Only! curriculum, working in collaboration with various Boys and Girls Clubs in San Diego, San Diego Unified School District’s PrimeTime afterschool program and other relevant partners. The Program Coordinator will also support a process to develop a boys’ empowerment curriculum by engaging key internal and external stakeholders in collaborative work and strategic planning.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Program Support for Girls Only! Initiative (70%)
- Provides overall coordination of the Girls Only! program at four Boys and Girls Clubs in San Diego County and (4-8) SDUSD’s PrimeTime afterschool programs.
- Works in partnership with the Boys and Girls Club to support the planning of and facilitation of the weekly program activities.
- Supports the documentation and dissemination of project activities and outcomes, including taking notes and attendance of each session and documenting case studies.
- Supports the PCI Technical Advisor of M&E in ensuring that proper data collection/analysis and strategic reporting are occurring.
- Schedules, handles logistics, takes and disseminates notes for any relevant meetings and supports and coordinates the implementation of any follow-up activities (i.e. Monthly Girls Only! Steering Committee meetings).
- Coordinates any updates needed to the current Girls Only! curriculum in partnership with the Boys and Girl Club staff and incorporating input from the Girls! Only Steering Committee.
- Updates PCI staff on progress, processes/systems and continuity around the initiative.
- Works closely with other PCI staff to support fundraising activities, developing/revising marketing materials and fact sheets, participating in donor meetings/events.
- Supports proposal development efforts and the establishment of strategic partnerships to expand the Girls Only! project in the San Diego region.
- Drafts all program reports for donors and implementing partners.
2. Program Support for Boys’ Empowerment Program (30%)
- Works in partnership with the San Diego District Attorney’s Office to develop a localized boys’ empowerment curriculum for at-risk San Diego youth.
- Supports the documentation and research related to developing the boys’ curriculum.
- Schedules, handles logistics, takes and disseminates notes for any relevant meetings and supports and coordinates the implementation of any follow-up activities (i.e. Boys’ Curriculum Advisory Committee)
- Supports proposal development efforts and the establishment of strategic partnerships to pilot the boys’ empowerment project in the San Diego region.

Required Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree or associate’s degree plus two to three years of additional work experience;
- Two to three yrs professional experience with 1 year experience in similar role in Program Coordination;
- Direct experience in youth empowerment programming a plus
- Written and spoken Fluency in English (required);
- Written and spoken fluency in Spanish a plus;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Demonstrated coordination and/or project management skills;
- Excellent organizational skills, detail-oriented, including ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks independently;
- Ability to take initiative, solve problems, anticipate actions, and to use creative means to complete tasks;
- Willingness to learn and respond to constructive feedback;
- Ability to work as an integral part of a team, taking guidance and input from a variety of staff;
- Strong time-management skills and ability to work to deadlines;
- Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Must be available for local travel (in San Diego area);
- Basic knowledge of the field of human trafficking, including an understanding of the problem, international protocols and definitions, approaches to combating the problem, etc.;
- Ability to work comfortably and with sensitivity to the values and expectations of people of diverse educational, economic and cultural backgrounds.
