We are seeking a Project Director to potentially support the USAID Global Health Technical Assistance and Mission Support (GH-TAMS II) project team in Washington, DC. GH-TAMS II, a five-year contract funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), will provide USAID operating units working on health-related activities in headquarters and the field with access to high-quality technical, management, and USAID expertise to support health programs. GH-TAMS II will assist GH and missions with this expertise through short- and medium-term consultant services, supporting USAID’s global health strategic priorities: 1) Preventing child and maternal deaths; 2) Controlling the HIV/AIDS epidemic; and 3) Combating infectious diseases.

This position is a contingent position that is subject to a federal contract award.


  • Provide overall team management, guidance, direction, and administrative and technical support to the contract.
  • Direct overall project performance, management, and execution in a manner that ensures all project deliverables are met, activities are managed within budget and, activities are in compliance with all CAMRIS and USAID regulations.
  • Responsible for all logistical support for consultants and GH-TAMS teams both in the United States and overseas.
  • Ensure quality control over all deliverables under the program by reviewing drafts, contributing technical expertise, and drafting content as necessary.
  • Regularly meet with stakeholders, including the client, to coordinate activities, provide status updates, and build relationships.
  • Complete reporting activities as required and requested.
  • Provide technical input for select contract deliverables including ensuring quality control and oversight for assignment report content, preparation and production.

  • Advanced degree preferably in public health, medicine, social/behavioral/biological sciences, international affairs, management, and/or related fields. A Master’s is required, but a PhD is preferred.
  • Ten (10) years of work experience relevant to the contract subject matter, which is working with and building the capacity of local USAID partners (preferably in the global heath area).
  • Extensive experience of project design, and knowledge of organizational capacity development and performance management.
  • Previous experience managing expatriate and local staff under USAID contracts.
  • Experience interacting with developing country governments, international organizations, other bilateral donors and civil society representatives, and senior level government official under USAID contracts.
  • Experience working with local partners, particularly in areas related to organizational capacity development, financial management and audits, business development, and transition/ sustainability.
