Job Description

The Guardian Global Media Campaign to End FGM is currently looking for a Program Director who will have full overall responsibility for the financial management, human resources, monitoring and evaluation, administration, staff oversight, and governance of the Guardian’s highly successful media campaign to end FGM, as it extends across Africa.

The Programme Director will have full management and administrative oversight of the project, working to ensure accountability and effectiveness of all new and ongoing incountry programs, including partnership agreements, contracts, hiring, monitoring and evaluation and financial oversight; ensuring the creation and management of effective systems for timely reporting and financial accountability; and effective monitoring and evaluation. The Programme director will work closely with the campaign coordinator/project and editorial lead of a media led team, as they create opportunities and commission campaign content, including film content, and train journalists and fieldworkers to work effectively with the media/including social media platforms and Guardian vertical content outlets such as You Tube and Guardian Facebook to amplify ongoing work to end FGM.

The post will report to the Guardian Philanthropic Strategic Partnerships Director, and by extension to the Guardian managing editor’s office. It is initially a 6 – 9 month contract based at the Guardian offices in London, but will also involve some travelling to Africa to oversee program operations and incountry monitoring and evaluation processes.
