Job Description

The mission of Global Communities (formerly CHF International) is to create long-lasting, positive and community-led change that improves the lives and livelihoods of vulnerable people across the globe.

Global Communities is seeking an experienced Program Director for the USAID Canaan Upgrading and Community Development Program (CUCD) in targeted neighborhoods of Port au Prince, Haiti.

The Program Director is responsible for overall management of the activity. The primary role is to ensure results are being achieved on schedule, resources are being used effectively, staff is performing, partners are meeting their commitments and deliverables are of the highest quality. The Program Director is the program’s senior representative to the donor, the GOH and the International Donors Community in Haiti.

Qualifications

Education:

  • BA/BS or equivalent required; Masters or equivalent degree in international development, project management, anthropology, urban planning, economics, etc. preferred

Work Experience:

  • At least 8 years working in the international development field
  • At least 3 years working on neighborhood upgrading, housing, strategic urban planning, economic growth or similar programs in developing countries
  • At least 2 years working on development programs funded by major bilateral or multilateral donors (USAID, the World Bank, the Inter-American Development Bank, the Asian Development Bank and other major donors)
  • At least 6 months working in Haiti and/or similar developing countrycontexts
  • Experience managing sub‐grantees and sub‐contracts
  • Have demonstrated knowledge for addressing urban gender disparities’ and create opportunities for women’s leadership and participation in rehabilitation programs

Other Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills are required, both written and oral
  • Record of accomplishment for achieving income and/or reconstruction results in other senior management positions is required
  • Record of accomplishment of client orientation is required, as well as an expert level of knowledge in either livelihood support or reconstruction
  • Experience managing sub‐partners to activity results
  • Fluent in English; intermediate level of Haitian Kreyol and/or French preferred
