Job Description

The Program Implementation Coordinator plays a key role in supporting management and program teams to develop, implement and monitor activities. The role also requires sound budgeting skills that strengthen the ability of IWPR’s programs to accomplish their work. S/he ensures the smooth and effective implementation of projects supported primarily by the US government and private foundations. This role requires budgeting expertise (development and review) and strong experience in grant management, including reporting, analysis and sub-grant monitoring. The post holder plays an important role within IWPR’s network of affiliates in London, The Hague, Washington DC and our field-based operations.

S/he pro-actively manages the implementation of planned activities within a dynamic environment of shifting priorities, while maintaining communications with Program Directors and effective teamwork with other staff. This will be achieved through a broad range of responsibilities, including both technical and administrative duties.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Project Development, Implementation and Technical Assistance.
  • Provide leadership in defining and facilitating program planning and implementation.
  • Work closely with Program Directors on program planning and development and corresponding budget development.
  • Oversee the implementation of US-supported project work plans, ensuring that resources are available (human, financial and material) for work at home offices and field levels.
  • Establish management systems to ensure smooth running of project activities.
  • Work with program and financial staff to ensure that activities meet approved accounting and management standards.
  • Assist program staff in monitoring their program budgets and work plans to ensure programs will achieve the results anticipated within the resources and time allocated.
  • Monitor program deliverables and outputs to ensure compliance with grant obligations.

Budgeting and Reporting

  • Create detailed program budgets for US government and foundation grant proposals.
  • Analyze and monitor budget-to-actual monthly reports for programs.
  • Help create standardized, easy-to-use, detailed budgets across each program and country for the Development and Program teams.
  • Assist in worldwide budget forecasting.
  • Support annual budgeting process and long-term planning.
  • Assist with evaluating budgets provided by in-country teams.

Communications and Outreach

  • Edit and contribute to the programmatic reporting to donors and IWPR friends.
  • Represent IWPR’s programs to international donors and organizations to leverage continued and new funding.
  • Liaise with funding partners to keep them abreast with program development.
