The Program Manager will oversee and manage all aspects of the project and multiple programs assigned to a specific country. The Program Manager will be responsible for the development and execution of project work products, to include but not limited to program timelines, budgets, reports, and other products as identified. They will represent IREX inside the country or region.

Your Background & Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field.
  • Minimum 7+ years of progressive job experience. or a master’s degree and 6 years of experience.
  • May require additional experience in a specific region and/or subject matter.
  • Strong program management skills with the ability to oversee and manage projects.
  • Demonstrated technical knowledge related to internal migration in Mexico.
  • Demonstrated technical knowledge of methods and ethics in educational and/or social science research.
  • Proven experience managing multiple complex programming in a demanding, time-sensitive work environment.
  • Experience conducting research and ability to proficiently articulate findings in the English language.
  • Demonstrated ability to track and manage budgets and plan both strategically and creatively to meet project objectives.  
  • Strong problem-solving skills and demonstrated flexibility to meet program outcomes.
  • Strong representational and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft office products, including Excel; and
  • Speaking, reading, and writing proficiency in English and Spanish required. Excellent written and spoken English.
  • Excellent cross-cultural and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Self-motivated and result oriented.
  • Awareness on gender equality and inclusion approach.
  • Must demonstrate valid proof of unrestricted authorization to work in Mexico.

Your Daily Tasks

  • Lead day-to-day program management, reporting, compliance and finance and overall coordination of program activities.
  • Manage the planning and implementation of program activities, including operational plans and budgets.
  • Provide recommendations on troubleshooting implementation challenges, as needed and in partnership with IREX staff and program sub-awardee.
  • Provide recommendations on partnership building and network strengthening for IREX and the Ambulantes II program.
  • Lead stakeholder outreach and manage relationships with governmental, civil society, and iNGO representatives, including Walmart Foundation grantees mentioned in the prime award.
  • Draft complex documents, including program reports and evaluations.
  • Lead the administrative and financial management, including initiating procurement.
  • Monitor the subgrants and subgrantees’ performances, provide high-level assistance to the subgrantees.
  • Establish, maintain, or cultivate relationships with key stakeholders to ensure project activities can continue with minimal disruption.
  • Performs additional duties and tasks to meet the needs of the organization, team, or as assigned by manager.
  • Provide input to internal/external reports, presentations, proposals, and other products, as requested by IREX staff.
  • Develop strong working relationships with partner organizations.
  • Represent IREX externally in stakeholder outreach events and/or meetings with governmental, Civil society, iNGO representatives, and with the program donor.
  • Support in preparing presentations and documentation for high-level stakeholder and donor meetings.
  • Oversee the renewal process of the program, which may involve reviewing and updating program documents, preparing reports, and supporting the overall renewal strategy.
  • Support one or more areas of the proposal development process, such as proposal design, writing, and/or review. This may involve contributing to the development of proposal narratives, conducting research, and ensuring alignment with donor requirements.
  • Oversee business Development relevant to the region or country of responsibility, including researching funding opportunities, assessing the competitive landscape, and identifying potential areas for program expansion or adaptation.
  • Monitor project budgets and financial reports, identifying any discrepancies or issues that require attention and taking appropriate actions to address them.
  • Manage with the finance team or relevant stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Review in the preparation of financial documents, reports, and budgets as needed.
  • Manage the project coordinator and oversee their work.
  • Delegate tasks to team members and provide clear and measurable guidance for successful project implementation.
  • Take ownership of decisions and actions, assuming responsibility for project outcomes.
