About VSO VSO is an international development organisation that contributes towards addressing poverty and disadvantage through the placement of International skilled professional volunteers with national partners.
VSO Zambia is seeking an experienced, highly motivated and ambitious development professional who will raise the profile of VSO Zambia and take VSO’s country programme to the next level in terms of scale and impact. You will play a leading role in the delivery of VSO Zambia’s country strategy plan. You will possess experience in a senior programme management role and have a strong track record of successfully and consistently raising institutional funds for development programmes. Role overview • Develop all VSO Zambia projects through desktop research, thorough negotiations with government, civil society and donor stakeholders and beneficiary consultations. • Assess, negotiate and develop relevant Civil Society, Line Ministry and Private Sector partnerships. • Identify funding opportunities through developing strong working relationships with donors, partners, and the international VSO fundraising team. • Develop high quality programme design and proposals, with clear theories of change and logical frameworks. • Develop realistic project plans and budgets, ensuring compliance with donor requirements working closely with the Management of VSO Zambia and the international fundraising team. • Develop high quality volunteer placement documentation with partners. • Support the programme team to design appropriate monitoring and evaluation plans. • Provide leadership as a member of the country management team through supporting the Head of Programmes and Country Director in building capacity of the programme team. • Develop project and programme budgets in close collaboration with the VSO Finance manager and Country Director. Skills, qualifications and experience required • Extensive experience in multi sector Programme design in several countries. • Extensive experience in managing multiple programmes in a range of contexts and countries. • Extensive proven expertise in writing successful donor proposals, preferably for donors such as USAID, EU, SIDA and UN agencies. • Experience in managing multiple institutional donor grants. • At least four years international experience at a senior management level for NGOs. • Experience liaising with government line ministries, local authorities, Civil Society and other INGO’s. • Masters level in development management or related field. • Excellent interpersonal, motivational and management skills. • Excellent analytical and writing skills. • A clean, valid driving license.
