Job Description

  • Support sub-award technical progress and monitor against deliverables and work-plans. Monitor and evaluate the progress of research and capacity building activities. Ensure sub-awardees adhere to annual work-plans and submit quarterly and final progress reports in a timely manner. Support the regional and country coordinators in regard to in-country monitoring of research implementation and performance. Ensure compliance of all research conducted by the Management Entity, to requirements governing research on animal and human subjects and the environment. Give technical support to the Management Entity, especially the Areas of Inquiry (Animal Production and Marketing, Livestock Diseases and Food Safety, Enabling policies for Livestock and Future Livestock Systems) and cross-cutting themes (Human Health and Nutrition, Gender in Livestock Systems, Human and Institutional Capacity Development). Oversee and or implement delegated projects to ensure they run smoothly, efficiently and on time.
  • Coordinate knowledge sharing activities including analysis and results sharing. Lead efforts in knowledge sharing and open data management within the Management Entity and support sub-awardees to ensure effective implementation of knowledge sharing activities.
  • Contribute to donor reporting, project proposal development and development of communication materials. Contribute to biannual preparation of reports for donors, project proposal writing and development of communication materials such as training manuals, newsletters, research briefs, peer-reviewed publications and other communication products.
  • Support monitoring and evaluation activities. Assist with monitoring and evaluation activities and collation of the indicator data and reports as needed.
  • Event management. Organize meetings, conference calls, stakeholder consultations and other programmatic events, and give additional support, as requested in Gainesville Florida and the focal countries.

About the Organization

The University of Florida is the Management Entity for the Feed the Future Innovation Lab for Livestock Systems. Innovation Labs are long-term, multi-disciplinary, applied research and capacity-building projects that conduct research for development to address poverty and malnutrition in Feed the Future countries. The Livestock Systems Innovation Lab program works across three broad geographic regions: East Africa (Ethiopia, Rwanda, Kenya and Uganda), West Africa (Burkina Faso and Niger), and Asia (Cambodia and Nepal) in designated Feed the Future countries.
