Job Description

Summary: ChildFund International is recruiting a Project Director to provide support to a project designed to reduce exploitative child labor in Ethiopia. S/he will provide overall leadership and technical oversight of all project activities. S/he will be responsible for managing donor relationships, monitoring program activities and demonstrating project results in accordance with project work plans and M&E plans.

Required Skills

  • MA or PhD in Social Work, Education, International Affairs, Economics or other relevant field.
  • Prior experience as a Project Director and/or a COP/DCOP managing successful multi-million dollar and multi-year USG-funded projects.
  • At least 5 years of demonstrated experience managing similar programs particularly in the fields of child protection and/or youth economic empowerment.
  • Must be able to manage simultaneous activities while meeting deadlines, achieving targets and overseeing the preparation and submission of required reports.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of US DoL rules and regulations.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex projects with multiple partners, overseeing local partners’ compliance with donor requirements.
  • Proven monitoring and evaluation expertise.
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit and retain key staff, and lead teams. Strong people management and mentoring skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, cross-cultural communication, and ability to manage high-level relationships.
  • Strong technical writing in English and oral communication skills.
  • Previous work experience in Ethiopia is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Amharic highly desirable
