Job Objective: The Ukrainian Red Cross Society (URCS) is seeking a dynamic and experienced Humanitarian Project Manager. Reporting to the Head of the Project Management Unit of the Project Coordination Department and the Program Director, the Project Manager will ensure the successful implementation of the project(s) by managing and monitoring the project(s) at all stages of the project cycle, ensuring overall quality. Success in this role will require close and effective collaboration with the Donor(s) on projects, internal departments, and an understanding of the project and program management cycle.

Main responsibilities:

Project management:

  • Participate in the planning and development of the project/projects implementation process, as well as proactively monitor progress, resolving issues and initiating appropriate corrective actions in coordination with technical departments and donor/donors.
  • Manage the project(s) (monitor budget, deadlines, achievement of goals together with technical departments, ensuring effective allocation and spending of funds in accordance with the financial requirements of the TCHCU and the donor(s).
  • Coordinate and support the activities of technical departments to ensure high project quality, review and consolidate project reports, communication materials and other reports stipulated in the contract with the donor/donors, ensuring their timely submission.
  • Communicate with donor(s) representatives regarding project(s) results, changes, and progress.
  • Collaborate with PMER to ensure implementation of monitoring, evaluation and accountability processes that ensure feedback is incorporated into the design of the project(s).
  • As necessary, facilitate, coordinate and participate in evaluations, conferences, seminars, communities of practice and/or other activities related to supporting the project(s).
  • Monitor the relevance of project/project documentation.

Donor support

  • Communicate and coordinate support provision from the TCHCU units. This may include the process of identifying support needs, developing plans, and overseeing their implementation.
  • Participation and assistance in the development of new projects and proposals taking into account the strategy of the Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Center.

Additional responsibilities:

  • Participation in meetings to develop and improve project management approaches and business processes of the enterprise.
  • Participation in other issues related to the activities of the Project Coordination Department.

General responsibilities:

  • To actively work to achieve the goals of the TCHHU.
  • Adhere to the principles of the Red Cross Movement and work in accordance with them.
  • Perform any other work-related tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the immediate supervisor.

Candidate requirements:

  • Higher education or equivalent (preferably in project/program management or related fields, particularly in social sciences).
  • Understanding of key practices and standards of humanitarian response, such as SPHERE and others.
  • General financial, administrative, information and telecommunications skills, as well as skills in working with information technology.
  • Experience in project management in humanitarian crises or in a development context.
  • Previous experience working in a similar position or organization in an NGO (experience working with Donors ECHO, USAID, OCHA, BHA, FCDO and others will be a significant advantage).
  • Project management, including planning and scheduling, process development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
  • Ability to influence and negotiate, implement change, and provide support remotely.
  • High communication skills.
  • English at level B2 and above is required.

  • Experience in working with partners/contractors, local organizations.
  • The ability to apply non-standard/innovative solutions in work will be an advantage.
