THE ROLE
CABI’s mission is to improve peoples’ lives worldwide by providing information and applying expertise to solve problems in agriculture and the environment. CABI Regional Bioscience Centre Pakistan is implementing “Building the policy ecosystem for organic production landscape in Balochistan, Pakistan”. This project aims to lay the foundations to achieve agricultural policy change, strengthening market linkages and ultimately enabling business model change for organic production Pakistan. This project will achieve three major objectives; development of organic agriculture policy for Balochistan, enhance the availability of good quality organic seed and enhance availability of bio-inputs for organic agriculture production systems in Balochistan.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
The project Manager will perform the following duties:
• Organise and manage the project team members for efficient execution of the project as per agreed deliverables.
• Organise team meetings for project planning and implementation of deliverables for organic agriculture policy and Pakistan organic certification system with the provincial working group.
• Establish and maintain professional relationships with project implementing partners and consultants.
• Implement organic non-GMO seed development activities through the engagement of organic farmers in Baluchistan.
• Record keeping of project activities (Technical/Financial/ administration/training etc).
• Preparation and timely submission of monthly highlight reports, accounts, timesheets, etc.
• Effectively communicate and liaison with the donor for project planning and reporting.
• Maintain good working relationships with relevant stakeholders for continuous cooperation.
• Manage the project budget and utilise it for the completion of agreed activities.
• Support the Theme Coordinator in proposal development with innovative ideas to strengthen the theme at Centre.
• Work with CABI’s communication team in the Centre to ensure that the CWA scientific outputs and other highlights are given appropriate visibility.
• Ensure consistent adherence to CABI policies and procedures at the Centre, including HR and health and safety, financial and project management procedures, risk management and Intellectual Property Rights.
• Motivate, develop, train and provide opportunities to project staff to grow and become part of one CABI.
• Any other assignments required for satisfactory completion of the key role requirements.
ABOUT YOU
Knowledge & Skills
• Project management and technical skills in growing cotton, cotton seed in Pakistan
• Basic knowledge of organic agriculture policy and sustainable landscape management
• Excellent verbal and written communication and reporting skills
• Team player with good communication skills and ‘can do’ attitude.
• Be able to motivate couch train and develop teams
• Broad knowledge of bioscience facilities and related services in agriculture & environment.
• Good IT skills
• Fluency in English, with excellent written and oral communication skills;
Education
• Masters of science honors prefereably cotton agronomy, cotton seed or PhD in agriculture agronomy with specialization in cotton with 03-05 years of working experience.
Experience
• Strong experience in dealing with agricultural reaserch, extension, seed multiplication and cotton crop management.
• Experience in project development and execution.
• Demonstrate knowledge of experimental protocol optimisation.
• Good track record of research demonstrated by peer-reviewed publications in renowned journals.
• Expereince of sustainable landscape approaches will be an additional advantage.

• Ability to deliver work with various team members from different international backgrounds and experience
• Effective team player and conversant with a transdisciplinary approach.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills, Self-motivated.
• Flexible and creative in planning and problem-solving.
