Job Description

Program Background

The project provides project management, contract management and construction supervision services for the rehabilitation and upgrade of 27km of the Lihir Ring Road, Lihir Island, Papua New Guinea.

The Role

DT Global is currently seeking to fill a Project Manager / Senior Engineer role who will oversee the project implementation of the project in Lihir. The successful candidate will strive to ensure accountability and effective implementation of the project. S/he will be primarily responsible for the DT Global contracted activities for the overall project management and the construction administration and supervision of construction works.

Primary responsibilities will include:

  • Overall project management of key stakeholders, including client, third parties and community representatives.
  • Manage design reviews, requests for information, assess technical issues and oversee all construction activities.
  • Manage day to day supervision for technical compliance and quality of works, compliance to environmental, traffic management, health and safety and community management plans, and compliance to all client policies.
  • Monitor budgets and timelines against contractors’ progress.
  • Manage variations, claims and certification of completed works, measurement and payments.
  • Manage regular contractor and stakeholder site meetings and reporting for progress, technical assessments and completion.

This current role is for immediate start and available until January 2025 subject to construction requirements.

About You

You are a motivated Project Manager / Senior Engineer with demonstrated ability to effectively engage senior-level counterparts for overall project management and implementation. You will possess high-level leadership and management skills, including substantial project team leadership experience in road construction management and construction monitoring teams in recipient countries.

To be considered for this role, you will need to have a tertiary engineering qualifications and eligibility for membership of the Institute of Engineers PNG (or equivalent related professional memberships in PNG and elsewhere). You have advanced written and verbal communication skills. Sensitivity to community, cultural, gender, HIV/AIDS, environmental and development issues. You have advanced contract administration and construction supervision works including technical skills for design and construction material (Highly desirable). The successful candidate should have at least 10 years of experience in the management of road construction including in PNG or other developing countries and remote locations and you have flexibility to work on rotation with a preferred local regional home base. (Highly desirable)
