War Child is looking for a:
Project Support Intern

‘Organised, proactive and eager to learn’.

4-5 days per week for a period of 5 months or longer, starting in February 2026

You are interested in how international NGOs operate and want to understand what it takes to run global programmes in practice. You enjoy organising information, supporting colleagues and keeping processes running smoothly. You are detail-oriented, curious and ready to learn about programme logistics, procurement, document management and internal coordination. This internship supports project management and roll-out of several Evidence Based Methodologies (EBMs) in psychosocial support, child protection and education, while also contributing to wider programme and operations tasks across the organisation. Your Challenge Most of your time will be spent supporting internal and project coordination, like the organisation of trainings, travel arrangements and progress tracking for our partnerships and technical teams. You will also assist with administrative and procurement tasks, maintain document libraries and help improve the usability of key resources used across the Alliance. This is a practical, hands-on internship designed for someone who learns by doing and enjoys being part of a dynamic, collaborative working environment. What you will do:
Training and Logistical Support
  • Assist in organising trainings, workshops, meetings, and learning activities. Support set-up and coordination of the trainers pool.
  • Provide note-taking during internal meetings and support follow-up actions.
  • Provide flexible support during peak periods.
Procurement and Travel
  • Assist with procurement tasks, such as collecting quotations and organising materials.
  • Support invoice flows by ensuring documentation is complete and stored correctly.
  • Support colleagues with travel arrangements in line with the Global Travel Policy.
  • Keep overviews up to date, such as training calendars, travel schedules and carbon tracking.
Document and Resource Management
  • Help maintain up-to-date resource libraries by uploading new versions and organising folders.
  • Support version control to ensure teams can easily find the correct and most recent documents.
  • Coordinate translation requests and ensure translated materials are formatted consistently.

YOUR PROFILE

  • You are an HBO, bachelor, or master’s student in a related subject area. Whether you come from a management background or an NGO-focused discipline, the key is that you’re interested in how international NGOs work in practice.
  • You are enrolled in a Dutch higher education institute for the whole duration of the internship
  • You are organised, accurate and able to prioritise your work.
  • Preferably, you have knowledge and experience of NGOs and/or development sector
  • You are pro-active, independent and flexible
  • Interested to work and communicate with people from various backgrounds
  • Excellent command of English language. Additional languages are a plus.
  • Proficient in Excel
  • Available for 4-5 days a week

WHAT WE OFFER

We are looking for an intern who will join from February 2026, for a period of minimum 5 months, 4-5 days per week, with a minimum of 2 days in the Amsterdam office. As intern in War Child you can count on an interesting internship, with an opportunity to learn a lot. You will receive an internship allowance of € 300, - gross per month, based on 40 hours per week. Please note that War Child interns need to be enrolled as students at a Netherlands educational institution for the duration of their internship. Please note that this internship does not suit students who are in their thesis writing semesters.
