QUALIFICATIONS

• Undergraduate degree in any discipline, but a social science subject would be an advantage. A postgraduate degree in a relevant discipline is desirable but not essential
• 3+ years experience in the international development sector, preferably in the UK ODA space
• Excellent communication and inter-personal skills, including the ability to effectively engage with senior stakeholders
• Excellent skills managing activities across the lifecycle of a programme and in the following areas: programme planning, set-up, management, delivery and monitoring
• Excellent ability to organise yourself and other people. These skills include: time-management, multi-tasking, developing workplans and coordinating senior leadership and proposal writing teams
• Strong experience of effectively managing relationships in complex organisations and working effectively within multi-disciplinary and geographically dispersed teams
• Strong skills in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Strong experience in leading on bid preparation and contract management for UK ODA programmes
• Strong writing skills, ideally in a proposal context with an ability to write compelling technical documents
• Working knowledge of UK public sector procurement and compliance or a working knowledge of the procurement and compliance practices of other large donors

You will play a key role in leading McKinsey Development Partners (MDP) UK Overseas Development Aid (ODA) portfolio.

You will be responsible for leading the end-to-end development and management of proposals and support the expansion of MDP’s UK ODA portfolio. This includes leading on proposal strategies and providing advice to leadership and proposal teams on UK ODA requirements. You will develop proposal procedures, tools, and templates; maintain proposal material databases and be responsible for writing and collecting CVs and reference cases. You will also lead and coordinate proposal teams to ensure work is delivered on time, and you will work with leadership (and independently) to write technical sections for proposals.

You will lead on the management of sub-contractor relations and lead on portfolio development activities including identifying new opportunities to serve UK ODA and donor clients. You will support the Compliance Manager with sub-contractor due diligence activities and ensure all proposals are compliant with client procurement requirements.

Additionally, you will represent MDP at industry events, and leading on reach and relevance activities. You will also provide support on programme management aspects across live programmes in the portfolio

You will be based in London and will be part of McKinsey Development Partners (MDP), is a McKinsey entity.

We currently deliver work in seven countries, across Africa and Latin America. You will work as part of the MDP Central Team. This is a growing team that drives client development, bid preparation, project management and delivery support, across McKinsey’s Overseas Development Aid (ODA) portfolio. Whilst the majority of your work will be focused on UK ODA clients, there will be opportunities for involvement in wider UK public sector and international donor activities.
