Protection of Human Rights Defenders in Iraq

Job Description

The American Bar Association Center for Human Rights is seeking to contract an organization to support its work to protect human rights defenders at risk in Iraq by carrying out the following services: 1) case identification 2) attending hearings; and 3) drafting trial observation reports. The contracting organization will also conduct meetings with judges and public prosecutors, parliamentarians, journalists, and non-governmental organizations to discuss human rights defenders cases.

Organizations are invited to express their interest by submitting a cost estimate for undertaking these activities. The contracting organization should have access to a regional network of human rights defenders. The contracting organization should also be familiar with basic digital and physical security protocols and secure communications platforms.
