Job Description

Responsibilities
The Protocol Intern shall work in close collaboration with the Partnership and Financing Officer, as well as with Government partners, think tanks and other experts, ensuring successful completion of the assignment. Responsibilities will depend on the individual’s background as well as the internship period. Duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Prepare draft Note Verbales to government counterparts including the Protocol Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with regards to the diplomatic immunities and privileges of the RCO and members of the RCO.
  • Engage with government counterparts, under the guidance of the UN Partnership Officer, to tackle any practical issues related to protocol.
  • Support the liaison with the UN Country Team in view of their requests for support from the RCO on protocol-related matters.
  • Support the incoming high-level UN delegations, including providing both logistics and substantive support.

Qualifications/special skills
Applicants must meet one of the following requirements:
(a) Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
(b) Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent).

Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required.
