Job Description
Amec Foster Wheeler Environment & Infrastructure is currently looking for Quality Control (QC)Specialists in various disciplines (mechanical piping and HVAC, electrical, controls, BAS, fire protection, security and civil/structural) experienced in design-build construction projects. Responsibilities will include construction quality oversight, subcontractor oversight, submittal reviews, work plan reviews, daily / weekly / monthly QC reporting and management. This position will involve long-term assignment to the project location in a foreign country. The ideal candidate must be interested in the onsite construction side of the business and work directly with our construction workers, subcontractors and project management in a “hands on” construction environment.
Key Responsibilities
Will be responsible for overall management of CQC for area of specialization and have the authority to act in all CQC matters as they relate to the assigned project in their area of speciality.

Implement the project QC Plan and perform in field QC functions to assure the quality of construction in their specialty

Perform QC reviews for all project submittals

Plan, Coordinate and participate in on-site QC meetings, QC Training, mock-ups and other QC related activities and attend Mutual Understanding Meeting

Responsible for managing and coordinating the three phases of control and documentation and ensure testing is performed

Supervise project staff and subcontractor Quality Control Inspectors

Coordinate and resolve comments on subcontractor Quality Control Plans

Ensure that inspection reports are received in timely manner and are reviewed for compliance to scope of inspection and forwarded to all concerned

Interfaces with disciplines to steward resolution of technical issues, Requests for Information and non-compliant work

Prepare and issue overall Inspection Status Report and maintain Test Log and Non-conformance Report Log

Report on quality issues to Project Manager and Line Manager in a timely manner including regular updates for reporting requirements

Manage submission of all project submittals and daily and testing reporting, provide QC certifications and documentation required in the contract.

Prepare, review, approve corrective action plans
Skills / Qualifications
-
Minimum of 15 years construction experience as QC Specialist, Project Engineer, QC Manager, Project Manager or Project Superintendent on large vertical and horizontal construction projects

BS or MS in Engineering or Construction Management from an accredited university relevant and requisite experience will be considered depending on client requirements

For Mechanical, would be a certified Master Mechanical Installer or Master Plumber with experience in industrial project with special emphasis on HVAC and chiller systems

For Electrical, Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering or Certified Master Electrician with related experience in industrial projects and knowledge of NEC and local codes

For Civil / Structural, Bachelor Degree in Civil / Structural Engineering with experience in industrial projects or relevant / requisite experience

For other areas of specialization certification or accreditation is required

Professional Engineering license specialized area is a plus

Current USACE / USN CQM Training is required or ability to obtain prior to job mobilization. must present a current CQM certificate

Familiar with USACE EM385-1-1 is a plus

Proficient in basic project management software including Microsoft project, Primavera and other pertinent software programs

Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills

Mentoring of junior engineers as needed

Familiar with Construction Materials Testing procedures and ASTM standards

Enthusiastic, self-starter with desire to provide excellent service to clients

Must pass drug test, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company’s driving (MVR) policy

Ability to work under pressure or deadlines and handle multiple priorities
-
High level organizational skills with great attention to detail

Must be able to perform / conduct project site inspections that include walking over rugged terrain, climbing ladders, conveyor / elevator transport and be capable of wearing all required personnel protective equipment (PPE)

US Citizenship with ability to pass security background checks to gain Base access
