We are currently seeking a Qualitative Data Collection Specialist based in Uganda.

Primary Responsibilities:
This position will support the implementation of a public health program assessment that involves conducting focus groups and interviews in community based settings. The Qualitative Data Collection Specialist will be responsible for traveling to field sites to collect in-depth interviews in line with the established protocol, supervising the note-taker, and collaborating with the research team based in the United States. Ugandan nationals are encouraged to apply.

Minimum Education and Experience Required:

  • Proven experience conducting in-depth interviews and qualitative data analysis
  • 5 years of professional research experience in social sciences, health programs
  • Master?s degree in public health or community health, international development, monitoring and evaluation or other related field preferred
  • Knowledge of local Uganda language(s)
  • Experience with HIV/AIDS or orphans and vulnerable children programs
  • Experience working with program financed by international donors, preferably USAID

KeyCompetencies:

  • Participate in data collection training
  • Pre-test data collection instruments
  • Conduct in-depth interviews with program officers, community authorities, and program beneficiaries in potentially remote areas
  • Supervise note-taker in transcription of data
  • Draft coding scheme and code select interviews
  • Write summaries of themes
  • Hold debriefing sessions with Palladium staff
