Job Description

USAID’s Mission in Jamaica is commissioning a Mid-term Performance Evaluation of the Positive Pathways activity. The Cloudburst Group is seeking a local qualitative researcher for this opportunity who can support data collection activities in Jamaica.

As part of the evaluation team, the local qualitative researcher will participate in evaluation key informant interviews and focus group discussions with program participants such as youth and their families. The consultant will be responsible for assisting the lead researcher with discussion preparation, management, and recording via detailed notes.

Illustrative Duties/Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Spend approximately four weeks (January 22-February 16) conducting fieldwork, according to the methodology specified and approved.
  • Participate in daily check-in calls and make interview and field notes available daily, in coordination with the lead researcher, to support fieldwork.
  • As needed, assist Cloudburst and the lead researcher with assigning activities to the research assistant and logistician, arranging fieldwork logistics, and other tasks related to successful fieldwork.

Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Master’s-level degree, ideally in a qualitative field.
  • Prior experience in qualitative research studies required.
  • Prior evaluation experience is preferred.
  • Fluent in spoken and written English.
