Overview

The Raiser’s Edge Database Manager primary responsibilities are the administration of the Raiser’s Edge (RE) and to serve as the single point of contact for all RE issues and questions. As the administrator of RE, this position will be responsible for all code tables, user rights and security groups and all global changes /imports as well as maintaining and developing custom reports that may be required by UNF. Additionally, this position must keep up with the latest changes to RE and coordinate with UNF’s IT department to apply patches and updates when necessary. As an expert, the Raiser’s Edge Database Administrator will also participate in the development of Raiser’s Edge policies and procedures and the planning and execution of a UNF Raiser’s Edge training curriculum for users from the beginner to the advanced level. The Raiser’s Edge Database Administrator will also develop optional modules such as Special Events, execute various requests and proactively assist users in determining the most efficient ways to utilize the Raiser’s Edge.

Working Relationship

The Raiser’s Edge Database Manager reports to the Executive Director of Business Services, Budgets and Reporting through the Director of Database Systems and is an integral part of a strong, close-knit team. The position works closely with other members of the United Nations Foundation staff responsible for data management and entry including but not limited to Finance, Public Affairs and Development.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

• Serve as the Raiser’s Edge expert on various projects designed to enhance UNF’s ability to raise money, communicate with donors and members, and track giving.
• Serve as the primary liaison between the Finance, Public Affairs, Membership, Development and other Foundation users to resolve problems and ensure collaboration. A major objective (institutional priority) will be the integration of existing ancillary databases with RE, wherever possible.
• Evaluate institutional and user needs and recommend appropriate procedures and solutions utilizing existing Foundation technology where possible, and other database management system products if necessary.
• Identify standalone department databases and coordinate their integration into RE and train staff on the use of RE and the Convio/RE Connector. Ensure the integrity of information systems and procedures.
• Ensure that proper documentation, procedures and policies are maintained for data integrity. Reviews and updates departmental procedures and policies annually. Routinely suggest policy and procedure topics for documentation, and draft, modify, post and implement policies and procedures as approved. Develop standards, procedures, and conventions for data and database use and monitor staff and departmental use and applications. Ensure compliance with policies, procedures to support ethical and successful fundraising practices.
• Responsible for all UNF acknowledgement processes, as well as overseeing the acknowledgements created by UNF Vendors. The position will be also be responsible for processing the UNF Matching Gifts.
• Serve as the leader of an internal user’s group for key Raiser’s Edge users and ensure the tables and fields are being used as designed by Blackbaud and Convio.
• Develop and execute queries, exports, reports, imports and global updates.
• Proactively assist users in determining more efficient ways to utilize Raiser’s Edge and provide support to end users when errors and issues arise .
• Maintain and (when necessary) develop policies and procedures to ensure data entry and workflows are consistent .

Selection Criteria

• Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience in data services.
• Five plus years progressively responsible experience using RE, working knowledge of Convio, demonstrated proficiency in use of Crystal Reports, SQL and MS Office.
• Advanced query, appeals, export, and prospect module experience, preferably with wealth screening, terrorists watch lists, and direct mail.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to explain highly technical concepts and processes clearly to non-technical clients.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines. Ability to manage multiple complex tasks and/or projects simultaneously while addressing the needs of the office, ability to maintain composure under pressure.
• Customer service focused with demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a diverse constituency, and with the ability to inspire confidence and respect among clients.
• Knowledge of fundraising principles and practice.
• Ability to work effectively as a team leader as well as independently.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary commensurate with experience. Actual salary will depend on qualifications and anticipated contribution to the Foundation.
UNF pays 100% of medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance premiums for its employees and 75% of medical and vision for employees’ dependents.
In addition, UNF provides 20 days of paid vacation per year, 12 paid holidays, three personal days per year, an immediately vested 150% matching 403(b) contribution up to a limit of six-percent of employee pay, Metro Pass benefits, and flexible spending accounts for health and dependent care.
