The Global Health Advocacy Incubator (GHAI), an initiative of the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids, draws on lessons from tobacco control campaigns in more than 50 countries to drive policy change campaigns focused other public health issues around the globe to improve health. The Regional Advocacy Director (RAD), Latin America joins a dynamic and growing team advancing efforts to train and support non-governmental organization (NGO) partners working to improve critical road safety public health policies in specific low-and middle-income countries. The RAD will support the execution of key programmatic efforts and policy change initiatives in close collaboration with the road safety Program Director, other GHAI road safety staff, and global program partners.
The RAD will work in partnership with civil society organizations and multilateral organizations to advocate for policy change and engage in regulatory reforms that aim to improve road safety in low-and middle-income countries. The RAD must demonstrate a well-developed understanding of in-country advocacy campaigns that lead to policy and regulatory change globally, be a self-starter with strong project management skills and the ability to work within cross-functional teams, and have a demonstrated commitment to advocacy training and capacity building in a global context.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The RAD will report to the Director, Road Safety and work closely with the GHAI staff in DC, GHAI staff in-country, and key global and in-country partners to advance policies that reduce road safety injury and death in key priority countries in Latin America. Primarily, the RAD will be responsible for providing ongoing technical assistance and strategic consultation to local civil society organizations to plan and execute strategic advocacy campaigns in their countries.
