ChildFund have an opportunity for a Regional Grants & Contracts Manager for the East & Southern Africa region to be based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia or any of the countries where ChildFund International has a national office in the region.

The Regional Grants & Contracts Manager is responsible for supporting National Office capacity strengthening (staff, systems, and tools) in the areas of grants compliance and grants and contract administration. S/he leads efforts to help National Offices build execution capability for strategic grants and contracts, focusing on compliance with organizational and donor policies, procedures and regulations, as well as risk mitigation. In particular, the RG&CM will provide expert guidance around sub-grant administration, contracting and operational standards. The RG&CM also serves as a technical resource for ChildFund staff in grant agreement and contract negotiation with donors and in interpreting donor rules and regulations. The RG&CM is a member of the Global Grants Team and works collaboratively with ChildFund colleagues in International and Regional Offices.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent training and experience, in International Development or a field related to the organization’s core program, Finance, Business
  • 5 – 7 years’ experience managing /overseeing the full grant lifecycle of a USG funded grant, cooperative agreement or contract.
  • Solid knowledge of administrative regulations applicable to assistance and acquisition including USAID and OMB Circulars
  • Strong analytical skills to successfully perform financial reviews, determination of responsibility, and other forms of quantitative analyses
  • Strong communication, planning, partnership and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated experience in designing and facilitating capacity building program/training, coaching and/or mentoring project staff in the basics of grant management.
  • Ability to work under pressure, with minimum supervision, within a matrix management structure, and with strict deadlines.
  • Fluency in English required, proficiency in French or Portuguese preferred
  • Computer literacy in word processing, spreadsheet and database applications
  • Extensive travel required
  • Senior management level leadership experience with a recognized INGO.
  • Familiarity with the operating contexts in more than one ChildFund Region (Africa, Americas, Asia)
