JTAC is looking for two enthusiastic HEOs to fill important assessment roles in the regional UK threats team. The team look at the operational threat picture from all forms of terrorism in the different regions of the UK. This includes Islamist terrorism, extreme right-wing terrorism (ERWT) and left-wing, anarchist and single-issue terrorism (LASIT). Working closely with regional operational partners, the team maintains a detailed understanding of their region and use that insight to make assessments on the terrorist threat to the UK. These assessments have real world impact including informing key policy decisions and setting of the UK national threat level. As each analyst is embedded within different regions, a key part of the role involves liaison between these teams and the JTAC teams based in London.
In order to produce high-quality JTAC products, the post holder will conduct independent research and analyse large amounts of information from a variety of sources. Previous national security or intelligence analysis experiences is not essential for this role; however, having excellent drafting and communication skills alongside the ability to take tactical information and turn that into strategic assessment will allow the post holder to perform strongly in this role.
The role offers significant experience of working with a range of operational and policy partners working on counter terrorism. Success in this role will therefore require the ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with a range of partners.
Due to the nature of JTAC’s work, priorities can change quickly and therefore the post holder will need to be flexible and adaptable to work on other areas when needed. Being a strong team player is crucial to success in JTAC.
Due to business requirements this post is full time only (Flexible working and Compressed hours are available).

For meaningful checks to be carried out, individuals need to have lived in the UK for a sufficient period of time to enable appropriate checks to be carried out and produce a result which provides the required level of assurance. You should normally have been resident in the United Kingdom for the last 3 years if the role requires CTC clearance, 5 years for SC clearance and 10 years for DV. We often have similar roles available at different grades. If a candidate is suitable for a similar role or a lower grade than they have applied for, we may offer the candidate that role without the need for them to go through a further selection process.
