Ladysmith is hiring!!
We are looking for a part-time Research and Business Development Manager to join our team. Our growing practice is focused on feminist research and advocacy and we need help managing our projects through all stages, from the earliest contact with prospective customers through to project completion. We need somebody with a flexible schedule able to dedicate at least three days every week to helping us deliver our research projects and to help spread awareness of our services.
The role would suit an individual with previous project management experience, preferably gained in a consultancy or knowledge worker environment. Previous business development or marketing experience would be an asset. An interest in gender issues would be an advantage but not a necessity.
Our practice operates entirely virtually so the role will be home-based for the successful candidate. A candidate located in North America, preferably Pacific side would be preferred because the leaders of the practice operate from the Pacific time zone. The successful candidate will work with a team of research professionals who all work on different schedules across different continents so significant flexibility will be needed. No travel is envisaged.
Anyone interested in finding out more about this opportunity should contact our Executive Coordinator, Caitlin Sirett, at: caitlin@ladysmithcollective.com
Ladysmith is a feminist research consultancy.
Policymakers, program designers, and social movements use data to craft the futures they want to see. A smith is a craftsperson. Throughout history, crafting has typically been associated with men’s work (think blacksmith, tinsmith, locksmith, silversmith). At Ladysmith we believe that women and their life experiences are critical to crafting a more just and caring world.
Guided by the principle “no research about us, without us,” we help international organizations collect, analyze and take action on gender data.
Our Services:
1. Research and data collection.
Our team members are experts in mixed-methods, feminist research methodologies. We conduct field research and desk reviews, and use digital technologies to collect gender data in new ways.
2. Strategic advising.
We believe that we ‘need everyone on the bus’ to achieve gender equality. For that reason, we work with partners who are new to feminist theories of change, providing thoughtful guidance on how they too can contribute to a more just and caring world.
3. Research communication.
Achieving gender equality doesn’t only require data–it also requires political will. We work with partners to communicate gender data to change hearts and minds. This includes editing existing research, and producing briefs and opinion editorials.
